St. Mary's Central High freshmen Maddy Gendreau, top, gives Erik Hruby a buzz cuton Monday morning at a pep rally to raise funds to benefit Carrie's Kids, a local program to help kids at risk. The SMCHS event was the first of of four to be held. Others will be at Bismarck High, Century High and Mandan High schools who are planning similar fundraising events. At St. Mary's four heads were shaved and two people had pies in their faces at the 'Spring Day' event. "And we reached our goal of 1500," said teacher Stacy Larson who advises the SMCHS student council who organized the program. Also having their heads shaved were seniors Cam Knutson and Al Johnson and athletic director Dan Smrekar.
