Bismarck Mounted Police drill sergeant Priscilla Sauer, surrounded by badges covered with black tape, watches the presentation of a memorial wreath at the North Dakota Peace Officer Memorial on 5-13 afternoon on the state capitol grounds. Sauer, a member of the mounted police since 2000, attended the annual event with law enforcement agencies from around the state. "There's no greater love than this to lay one's life down for his friends," said chaplain Lonnie Grabowski in the benediction "and each one courageously swore an oath to uphold and assumed the responsibility of protecting our neighborhoods and community.'
